At 5.30am 6 dual wheeled warriors gathered outside the pool. There was no discussion of where to go, we just went, based on the musings on the web. This caused Dan angst, well, it is now his excuse that he continually lagged behind, being out of sorts for not having a long winded and circular discussion about where to go.

Troika - see the "it is time to time a timely change in time" discussion.

The ride was going at some high pace. Not surprising given that Shaun let slip that he came 1st in his age division in the Caloundra Triathalon, and came 6th overall.

On hearing these places Amanda decided she wanted Shaun on her triatholon team. Only, she could not remember his name. Dan noted in jest that Amanda was using young men and spitting them out when finished. Amanda then organised for a driver of a Mercedes Benz in Pomona to wreck havoc.

Approaching Pomona Shaun and Allan sped of in the distance as they tended to do. Dan was at the head of the train, and suggested to Amanda she could go in front. No, Amanda insisted on stayig behind. The four of us were on the right turn slip lane before the Pomona rail crossing, and thus one would of thought highly visible to the driver of the Mercedes that had come across the railway. Dan in the lead [if you for the moment forget that by now Shaun and Allen were already at the Mountain Stop Cafe] did a gracious curve to the right towards the railway crossing just as Merc driver from railway crossing decided to cut the corner turning to his right. He sudenly jerked to a stop. Dan looked at him and saw now sign of regret or sorry. Apparently James did a gesture to the driver, being James it surely was a polite gesture. Mr Mercedes driver had a less polite gesture in return.

Riding back through Kin Kin Mark thought it would be a top idea if he jumped over one of the new roundabouts near the school. You may think he was being silly, but no, he was actually being kind. It meant that eventually he had to stop, and this allowed Dan the several minutes he needed to catch up from his designated position somewhere far behind the peleton.

Going up Gentle Annie James decided to be annoying by coming down to find Mark, Dan and Amanda cruising up the hill somewhat faster than walking pace. Amanda's legs did not cramp. And Amanda's legs did not cramp going up the back of the Gap. Thus Dan was last to the top. When he reached there, gasping for breath and wondering whether life would continue, the others had all these bright ideas for Dan to put into this ride report. Write your own ride report!

Mark, noting his broken spoke, then left to take it slow on the down hill. Some time later Dan left hoping to get a bit of a head start on the others. Damn it, they left straight away.

Allan and James decided they would catch Mark and sped off from past Cedar Pocket Dam. Allan turned to see what support James could provide, but James ws not there to provide. Eventually spokeless Mark was spied in the distance. Perhaps next time Mark should break more spokes so he cn go even faster!!

Cold drinks at the Deck, except for Allan who had another breakfast.

Sunday 19 Feb, 5.30am for a "short" ride. The next weekend, 6am ride start time.
